About Us

For many years, the Henderson family would pack up their three girls and make the trek over the mountains from the Skagit Valley to visit their friends in Okanogan County. Their friends owned an apple orchard and the family enjoyed the beauty and pristineness of the area. Eventually the Hendersons would have to head back home, only to crest the pass and feel the tension and stress of returning to "the I-5 Corridor". One night over dinner they thought “Why are we doing this? Our family deserves better”. That’s when Diana and Mark said enough is enough.

The Hendersons began their quest to find a new home in Eastern Washington. Loving the outdoors, especially fishing, and decided to search for their dream home. Discovering an apple orchard on the Columbia River, they wrote the owners a letter. “We’re an All-American family, looking for a change, and wanting to raise our three daughters in Eastern Washington. If you’re ever interested in selling, give us a call”. The owners responded promptly stating they hadn't thought about selling until they received our letter. The orchard had been in their family for generations, but they were in their 60’s and wanted to retire. The Hendersons thought “ya know what, let’s sell everything. If it’s meant to happen, it’ll fall into place... and it became theirs that same year, 1990.

In 2015 after another 25 years as a nurse, helping to establish the surgery center in Omak and as a nursing instructor for Wenatchee Valley College, River Haven Bed & Breakfast was established.

River Haven Bed & Breakfast is the Henderson’s labor of love. Being avid fishermen, orchardists, gardeners and cooks, they now get to share their excellence in hosting with you. Local wild game, salmon or halibut may be on the menu by request. A warm, cozy stay with home-cooked meals; a quiet place to bring the family, a couple rounds of golf at Gamble Sands, wine tasting in the Chelan Valley or unchartered adventures out on the waters of the Columbia River. We welcome you~.

Diana and Mark enjoy time together in their motorhome, out on the boat, gardening and cooking, but they most cherish their time with family. They have two daughters in Alaska and one in Montana, along with six grandchildren who all remain close at heart. Mark works seasonally for the Department of Natural Resources and continues his service as a firefighter as he has for many years.
